I’m here to help you write your next chapter.
My story is far from a fairy tale.
But none of the best stories ever are.
Who I work with
Business leaders who wear their heart on their sleeve
They say you’re shaped by the five people you spend the most time with. Whether it’s one-to-one coaching with me, or as part of a private peer group with other like-minded executives, we’ll bring your average up, as you become the leader you always knew you could be.
Changing the conversation
Leadership mental fitness and wellbeing
Showing your vulnerable side is a sign of strength. Not a weakness. And I’d know. I’ve had bipolar disorder since my early 20’s, but I’ve survived and now I thrive. I see it as a gift that’s shaped who I am today, and I’ve felt the benefits of being open about it. So I’m dedicated to raising awareness, and supporting leaders to be honest about their struggles.
Away from work
I’m active, social and creative
A lot of my childhood was spent in rural Southern Scotland, so there’s nothing I like more than stomping around the hills and fields around where I live. And it’s just as well I keep relatively active, given another love of my life is the enjoyment of food and wine, ideally with friends and family. That’s alongside writing, which is one of the ways I do my thinking – creativity and ideas deserve good paper and pens, so you might bump into me in a stationery shop one day.
Where you know me from
MD of Macsween for 10 years
The gritty, wonderful experiences that leading my family business brought me will forever be part of my DNA. And I’m now ready to share that experience with leaders who don’t want to make the mistakes I did.

“Jo gave a presentation at our Careers Day and the blend of personal experience and practical advice was perfect – you could see on the students’ faces that they were really engaged and motivated.”
